Suicide Squad – Official Trailer

The first official trailer to Suicide Squad has dropped and I have to say I am far more excited to see this than I am to see Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. I’m not an expert on the classic run written by John Ostrander (‘Suicide Squad’ #1-66) from 1987-1992, but I did periodically pick up an issue by Ostrander and I’ve always loved the concept of a bunch of unrepentant villains engaging in suicide missions to earn their freedom from prison. In spite of being a PG-13 movie, Suicide Squad looks to have plenty of gallows humor and it looks as if director David Ayers is doing his best to deliver something we have not seen before in the superhero genre. In all honesty, all I care about is seeing Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. My favorite moment in the trailer is a brief flash from her origin story where it appears as if Joker is submerging her in the same toxic waste that left him physically disfigured. In spite of being a Marvel fan historically, I’d love nothing more than to see the DC cinematic universe thrive if only to give Marvel some competition to help them avoid growing complacent from rolling around naked in their piles of money. At any rate, enjoy the trailer!
