If you don’t already have your tickets to the opening night of Star Wars: The Force Awakens at this point you’ll probably have to wait until 2016. Fandango crashed repeatedly while I was ordering my tickets but I am officially in. Now I have nothing to do for two months other than watch the following trailer on repeat.
If you’re around my age, you’ve been waiting for this movie since 1983. I’ve occasionally scratched the itch with classic computer games like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (2003) but I’ve basically been waiting for this movie since the age of 7. My hat is off to George Lucas for building this mythology in the first place but after his butchery of his own franchise from 1999-2005 with the prequels that shall not be named, I am more than ready to see the baton passed to a new generation of filmmakers. Just hearing Han Solo in this trailer explain how the Dark Side and the Jedi are real has goose bumps going up and down my back and neck. Each time I watch this trailer I can visibly see the hairs on my forearms standing straight up. If this movie works, J.J. Abrams will have officially resurrected a part of my soul that has been dormant for many years. The Force is strong with this one.
