I am sincerely hoping that I am dead wrong, but from what I see in this trailer bringing Justin Lin into the Star Trek franchise looks to have been a colossal error in judgement. Rather than use the opportunity to depart from the style that made him so successful with the four Fast & Furious films he helmed, he appears to have swapped out La Familia for the crew of the Enterprise, wiped his hands and called it a night. I’ve been watching Star Trek my entire life and I have been more than happy to endure the ups and downs over the many decades of storytelling, waiting patiently for the occasional movie or show that really nails the formula, but Star Trek Beyond does not appear to be movie I was hoping for. Once again, I hope I am dead wrong. Live long and prosper.
