In this episode we review the new film “Whiplash” directed by Damien Chazelle starring Miles Teller and J.K. Simmons. In keeping with our discussion of the use of jazz in “Whiplash”, we then dive into a discussion of a classic film with a score by Duke Ellington, “Anatomy of a Murder” directed by Otto Preminger. Arguably the greatest courtroom drama ever filmed, the film is impressive not only for its incredible story and technique but also the role it played in the downfall of the Hollywood Production Code.
