The Neon Demon – Trailer

I know a lot of people had many justifiable complaints about Nicolas Winding Refn’s last film Only God Forgives (2013), but I have to admit that overall I find the majority of his films to be well worth watching even the ones that are inherently flawed. Bronson, Valhalla Rising and his Pusher trilogy are all exciting, dynamic films in their own right and I found Drive (2011) to be one of the slickest, sexiest thrillers of the past decade. So when I first heard about The Neon Demon, the news immediately had my full attention. I’m all for seeing a grisly film set in the world of fashion and feel that Refn’s stylistic sensibilities as a director are perfectly suited to the material. I know this is only a trailer but I really like what I see. The specific release date has not been established but I am reading online that we can expect the film in June. I can’t think of a better palette cleanser to the blockbuster fare that we will all likely be getting very sick of by that point in the summer.

I am one of the Co-Hosts of Wrong Reel.
